14-year old Malala Yousafzai, who was nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize in 2011, was shot and seriously injured by the Taliban Tuesday, NBC News reports. The teen and two other girls were fired upon while traveling through the town of MingoraYousafzai won international acclaim for a blog post she wrote — under a pseudonym for the BBC — promoting peace and speaking out against the Taliban in Pakistan. The Pakistani government awarded her a National Peace Award in December, and she even had a school named after her.
A mother, who got drunk before accidentally smothering her baby and killing him, was ceaselessly mocked by Headline News host Nancy Grace on one of her shows, asking “Did mommy booze it up and kill her baby?” and suggesting she should have been charged with murder.
That woman, made further despondent after seeing the segment, set herself on fire. She later died.
